
The Ince Marshes site was identified as being suitable for the Resource Recovery Park (RRP) development on the basis that:
- There is sufficient land available for development. In order to function as a regionally significant RRP, which optimises the concepts on which the park is founded, the site needs to be large enough to accommodate a wide variety of waste management businesses
- There is a deep water berth on the Manchester Ship Canal providing access to short sea shipping routes and inland waterways;
- It has access to the national rail system;
- It is located within 2 miles of the M56 J14 motorway junction, with provides direct access to the strategic road network;
- It is within an industrial location and the land is allocated for an industrial use in close proximity to existing complementary business activity, including users of short-sea shipping and rail; and
- It is centrally located in the Mersey Belt, the main conurbation of the Region.
